Episode 2: Heather Avis
DIFFERENT – A GREAT THING TO BE
HEATHER AVIS is the founder and chief visionary officer at The Lucky Few, a social awareness brand on a mission to make a more inclusive and loving world with an emphasis on shifting the Down syndrome narrative. A former education specialist teaching high school students, Heather is an author, podcast host, speaker, adoptive mother, shouter of worth, and narrative shifter. She lives in Southern California with her husband, Josh, and their kids Truly, August and Macy, the inspiration for her book, Different—A Great Thing to Be. (Which was recently named a New York Times bestseller!)
Listen in as we discuss her new book, the narratives around adoption and Down Syndrome, what to look for in a children’s book, and what the best deodorant brand is. What a fun conversation this was.
